I have a 1995 900SE convertible and I need to replace the radio.  I
currently have the traditional cassette radio with the six CD changer
in the trunk.  I would like to replace it with a newer model radio
that has the single cd player built into the head unit.  Can anyone
tell me if a later model radio will fit in my 1995 900SE?

Thanks, dave

If you have these type of connectors :
http://www.bluespot.co.uk/stock/iso.asp

then a standard radio/CD *should* fit (YMMV). ISO conectors have an
offset lug so you cannot put the wrong plug into the wrong hole.

I'd suggest taking it out and having a look, then have a look at the shops.

Have a look on ebay to see wha the changers are going for, you should
get a good price back on it :-)

Dave:

If you are in the USA, call the folks at www.crutchfield.com. They can
tell you if it's plug-n-play. They have quite a few adaptor cables if
there are changes to be made. If you have the double din unit now, you
will probably need to get the empty shell that goes below the radio
(either from Saab or perhaps crutchfield has those too). Of course,
you will lose the SID display of the radio info - I don't think you
can buy a unit that does external display like that.

If your existing CD changer is working perfectly, email me back and
let me know. I am in the market for one (I think... I won't know for
sure until I buy one, plug it in , and see if it solves my problem :-)
Drop me a line.

Bob
