on a 92 saab 9000 cd turbo, i have replaced the TCS twice. each time the
new sensor will work for a short time (several hours) and then the TCS
light comes on, after which the car will only idle. the car has 114K, but
other than this it works great. is this easily repaired?

No.

The TCS will go into limp home mode for a wide variety of reasons.
Probably the least likely one is that the TCS computer is FUBAR,
besides, you have already ruled that out (twice).  ;-)

There is a fault of some kind being registeredf in the ECU.  To get that
code (and get to the root of the problem) will require use of the SAAB
specific ISAT scan tool.  It is unlikely anyone besides a dealership or
serious SAAB specialist will have one of these tools.

Good Luck,
