Hi,
I was just on the saab uk website comparing my 2001 9-3se to the new
9-3ss models. There seem to be two different engine sizes, a 1.8l and a 2.0l
Could someone enlighten me why they call one model a "1.8t"  when it has a
2.0l engine??
The engine in my 2001 9-3se has the same specs as the "1.8t" engine. Is it
still the same engine??

9-3 Sport Saloon Overview

1.8i 122 bhp ( 1,796 dm3 )
1.8t 150 bhp ( 1,988 dm3 )
2.0t 175 bhp ( 1,988 dm3 )
2.0T 210 bhp ( 1,988 dm3 )

thanks, keith

The only reason I can think of is that BMW started this nonsense with the
2.0L BMW 318 and that this is the car that Saab wants to compete with.

No. The old engines (2.0t and 2.0T) are 1985cc cast iron engines. The
new engines (1.8t, 2.0t and 2.0T) are 1988cc all-alloy engines.
