Yesterday, suddenly the Speedometer stopped working while drving. It has not
been working since.
Anyone similar experience, how to get along isolating root cause?
Thanks!

Most common problem is worn out speedo driven gear. The gear is
attachec to the speedo sensor in the trans. There is one bolt that
hold the clamp that retains the sensor. Remove the bolt and clamp and
with a little effort you can twist out the sensor.
Check the gear for wear. I does not take much. Earlier units had a
white plastic gear. Replacement gears are black and supposedly last
longer.
Other possibilities would be a bad/broken drive gear. Trans has to be
O/H to fix that one. Sensor is bad. Chuck up the bottom of the driven
gear in a drill and spin it with key on. Speedo should work.
Could be a speedo head, but very rare. Wiring problem always possible.
Good luck,
Steve

Trond...suggest you get this looked at fairly quickly. This happened on my
'97 9000 CSE 2.3 LPT, and was accompanied by the engine stalling at
junctions - something it has never done before or since. About 40 miles
after the speedo stopped working I lost the ability to select gears. This
was due to part of the speedo drive mechanism detaching itself and falling
into the selector mechanism. Luckily I was covered by warranty, otherwise it
would have cost me a LOT of money, as the gearbox had to come out!
Correspondence with Saab led to an acknowledgement that this fault had been
seen before and can be caused by overfilling the gearbox with oil and/or
using unapproved additives. My car has been dealer serviced from new, so....
Anyway....good luck!
