A litre a month of coolant is a fairly signigicant loss. Just keep an eye on
the oil to make sure that it's not getting into the crankcase due to a
failed head gasket. I've got a '95 900S 2.3L that has had a few small
coolant leaks. The cast alumunum connector tube that goes from the water
pump to the block has a couple of o-rings that have leaked. The radiator
developed a small leak where one of the side-tanks attaches, and almost
every connection where a hose attaches to a fitting had leaked at one time
or another.

As far as the cabin fan, if it's the same arrangement as my 900, it's a
relatively easy to remove and replace. Just remove the wiper arms, the
plastic cowl guarding below, and you should find the cabin fan and resistor
pack under the cabin air filter. At that point, use a test light or
voltmeter to see if power is getting to the fan motor.

For my car, a replacement fan/motor is approx. $250.00 USD from
eeuroparts.com  (I know because I recently priced one as mine is making a
burning smell. For $250, it's going to keep burning for a while ;--)

Forget the fan and fix the leak first.

If the coolant is not running under the correct pressure the engine will
run warmer.  If it runs warmer it can overheat and then it will be an
expensive job to fix it.
