Back on New Years eve I said good by to my 1993 Saab 9000CSE.  After
years of faithful service it was time to retire it...  Due to
expenses, costs, prices, etc...  I ended up getting a 2005 Pontiac G6
GT.  :(

Well,  I wasn't happy, and thanks to my parents for taking it over, I
just picked up a nice new Steel Gray Metalic 2005 Saab 9-3 Arc
equipped with Drivers Package, Sun Roof and Heated Seats!!   YAHOOO!!

I have  a couple questions I hope you all can help me with...

1. Comfort Opening feature??  According to the book, when you press
and hold the unlock button on the remote control of 2 seconds, the
windows are to go down and the sun roof open.  It does not say exactly
which windows.  So I have to ask...  Are all windows supposed to go
down? or just the front?  While the sun roof opens, only the front
windows seem go down for me when using this feature, is that normal?

2. Stereo's Sound quality...  My car has the Saab Infotainment (13
speaker/300W) with in-dash 6 Disc CD.   I'm disappointed by it.  It
has too much mid range and not enough low end.    Turning up the BASS
knob just makes the low end muddy and doesn't really help.  Is there
anyway to compensate for this? or am I stuck?   Considering the sound
from the Clarion unit in my '93 9000Cse, I had higher hopes for this
one.  The Stereo's sound quality is my ONLY "complaint" about this
car.

3. I'm confused about Seat and Mirror Memory...  It appears that upon
startup, the car's mirrors rever to one of the saved memory positions
other than #1.  For now, I've adjusted the seat and mirrors then saved
it to all 3 memory positions.   Is this selectable? i.e. what memory
position is used at start up?  I didn't see that in the manual.  In
other words, after adjusting the seat and outside mirrors where I
liked them, I saved to memory position #1.  The next time I started
the car, the mirrors adjusted to another position.  I had to press the
#1 to have them go back to where I set them.   My work around is
storing my settings in all 3 memory poisitions, but I don't want to
have to do that.

4.   Maintenance schedule?  My '86 9000 Turbo and '93 9000 CSE came
with "coupon" books that had service scheduled every 5000 miles along
with what needs to be done.  The service book that came with the 9-3
just says First Int., Int,  Main 30, Main 60, Main 90.     So what
milage figures are the First Int & Int services?  Every 5,000?? or
something different?

5.  Phone controls on the Infotainment panel and steering wheel? (Saab
web site states "Pre-Wiring for Hands-Free Phone ")  Are they usable?
anyway to hook my Motorola V710 (verizon) up to those controls?

5.a...  In the Saab accessories catalog they have Phone Connector
Harness...
http://www.saabcatalog.com/retail/category.asp?catalog%5Fname=Saab+Catalog&categ
ory%5Fname=Drive9395%3APhone+Connector+Harness&Page=1

"Pre-wired power access. Facilitates installation of mobile phone.
Dealer installation recommended."  Any idea what this is for?

Thanks!!
Mark.

I have a 2004 9-3 Aero and all my windows open in addition to the sunroof.

For the most part I am happy with the stereo.  Sound in a car is always
going to be a problem due to acoustics.

Too bad SAAB never implemented bluetooth for hooking to a cell phone.

Must be a 2005.  I meant for 2003/2004 9-3.

Just a guess, but you could be using key #2 and the car figures that you
want #2's position, while if you use the other key it would default to the
#1 memory position.

Thanks, I tried it.    (found where in the book it says how to figure
which key is which)...

Its not the key... at least it doesn't seem to be.

I am using Key #1.  If I set memory positions 1, 2 and 3 to something
different.  The mirrors do not adjust back to position #1 when I get
in and use key #1.  But they do move as soon as I enter the car.

If I go back to saving the same current settings to all 3 memory
positions, the mirrors stay put.
