Hello all! I have just puchased my first saab and am installing a
stereo and seem to have run into a problem (or 2)...
1)The constant power (grey wire) is only registering 6 volts intead of
12 and it is not enough for my stereo. For now I have both power
cables running through the ignition, but it is a pain having to reset
my stereo every time I start the car. Any ideas why this is?
2)The power antenna is not working, but it was when the old owner had
it (it is only 1 year old). Any ideas how to test if it is just my
wiring that is now working or if it is the antenna itself?
Any help anyone could give would be greatly appeciated.
Thanks,
Ed

Hi Ed,
You can test the antenna itself by applying power to the antenna wire
connections. You should find 2 wires that have round quick disconnects.
Need to ensure you are applying the power in the correct configuration:
+ to hot lead and - to ground lead. Antenna should go up when power
applied and down when removed.
The 6 volt problem could be wrong wiring. When I got my 900S, the radio
had been replaced and the wire for the radio lights controled by the
dash board dimmer control had been used as the source. The cause the
radio to have low power and to stop if the dash board lights were
turned down too low. Did you get the manuals with the car? There should
be a radio manual that shows the wiring of the Saab harnesses.
