Hi,
as many of you know I have a 1987 C900 Aero. I think my Saab dump valve is
playing up again. Considering a Bailey or Forge replacement.
I personally love the Pfft sound of an atmospheric dump valve, but I accept
that to many here it would be heresy to fit one.
However, I need two opinions:-
1 Bailey or Forge motorsport. Anyone tried a Bailey valve? They do seem
to be cheaper, but still look pretty solid, even if Forge is industry
standard.
2 Atmos or Recirc? Forget the sound issue, I like it and (no offence
intended here) I don't care whether you do or don't. The important thing is
does an atmospheric reduce lag, as claimed by one trader at the SOC
National. (I doubt it) Also bearing in mind I have an Air Mass Meter,
(which some of you know to be a sore point!) will an atmospheric cause me
problems? Read on saabcentral that it can cause stalling problems as the
air measured by the AMM is lost to atmosphere.
Your opinions and help as ever are always appreciated.

Had a Bailey Recirc on mine with a cone filter.
It didn't make the "ptttttttsh" like the SARD I have on the Celica does,
but it did make a polite "Cough" noise on gear shifts, sometimes louder
than others. The SARD makes a real Woosh noise.
If you find a double piston dump valve you may be OK with an Atmo.
I know the Celica had a flap rather than hotwire AFM, and it works fine
with the SARD.
Other people have used Bailey and Forge Atmos DVs, I think the Bailey to
use is the DV 26 (especially the D type, although ISTR that the DV36 is
louder.
DV30 is the recirc. Some people say that the Bailey gums up and stops
working though.
