Lately my car has been leaving oil stains all over the place, and they have
been growing bigger. I had a friend check it over, and tell me that, it's
probably leaking from the head gasket.

Has anyone had any problems with this? Is it expensive to fix?
I live in Chicago, so if anyone knows of a good mechanic in the chicago area
please let me know

Your friend is probably wrong.  But hey, what are friends for?
It is much more likely the valve cover gasket than the head gasket.  If
it were the head gasket you would have worse problems than a little oil
leakage.  Valve cover gaskets are inexpensive and it is a fairly
non-invasive job so it should not take more than 1 hour total labor.

More likely a valve cover gasket, but you don't mention what engine you
have.  That'd matter, a lot.  Head gaskets don't usually fail in a "drip
oil on the driveway" mode, they fail with running and/or unusual exhaust
smoke color symptoms.

I think that question is premature, let's make sure that's what you need
first.

The 1995 900S in the US has a 2.3L naturally-aspirated 4-cylinder. Not
sure about other markets.
