I recently bought a 89 Saab 9000 Turbo that appeared to be fairly well
maintained; however, a month after purchase, my automatic transmission
failed. The person that I purchased the car from has been reasonable
since I informed him of the situation, and he is now assisting me in
replacing my transmission. . . .Unfortunately, I have had incredibly
bad luck finding a transmission. I did locate one, but soon after
delivery discovered that the tranny was no good. I can not seem to
locate another transmission, so I would greatly appreciate any info. If
you have an automatic transmission for a 89 Saab or know of someone who
does, please contact me at jonclark@letu.edu. Thank you.

An 89 transmission should not be too expensive.  Problem is the
automatic transmission is not a 9000's strong point.  Plus when you
find one that is still good it may be too far from you and these things
are not cheap to ship cross country.  It may be just on the threshold
of what UPS may accept beyond which you have to go to a freight
carrier.

As a matter of fact, I have a working 1989 SAAB 9000 CD/Turbo automatic mothballed in the basement awaiting just such an opportunity. It is here in Halifax Nova Scotia and, depending on if it was of any value to you, I would be willing to haul it to a DHL - if the shipping to where you are is reasonable. If you can find out what shipping would be, I think we might be able to come to some arrangement for it. I think it comes in around 150-170 pds.

Flag me through http://www.dexterdyne.org .. While I want to hold on to it for a rainy day, Mrs Dexter J would surely love to see it go.
