Would like recomendations for four all weather tires for seattle area. I have separate snows for winter. Have had good luck with Michelins. Tire Rack likes ContiExtreme. Your suggestions? This has the effect of causing some nasty vibration, as if the wheel is out of balance. Check the buyers comments section of Tire Rack and you will see this effects a large number of the buys. I have a set on one of my cars and can't wait till they are worn ebnough to justify replacement. If you like them, I would stay with Michelins... An all season with severe service symbol. I put some Kumho Ecsta ASX's on my 9-5 Aero this summer. They handle well and are fairly quiet. We just got our first dusting of snow, maybe 2", and they seemed to do OK. Certainly MUCH MUCH better than the Michelin Pilot Sport A/Ss that came with the car (absolute deathtraps on any amount of snow) and the Pirelli PZero Neros I had after that (not great in snow, and they tramlined like crazy). They are also some of the cheapest tires in the 225/45R17 high-performance all-season category, $85 ea. at TireRack. If they continue to perform OK in the snow I'll be pretty happy with them. Of course then they'll probably wear out in 20k miles. :-) I live a bit south of you in So. Cal, but I like the new Goodyear TripleTred. We have the Goodyear Assurance Triple tread on our 96 CSE9000, and they ride great, no problems in snow, water or mud, just as advertised, best tire going plus 80k warranty. Not the cheapest out there, but based on all my research, certainly the best and safest for all conditions. The tyres are meant to last 80,000 miles ? I assume they have next to zero grip. The Goodyear's dry traction is about as good as the Michelin's, wet traction on the Goodyear's is substantially better and they are unbelievably grippy in snow - almost as good as dedicated snow tires and much better than any other all-season tire I have driven. They have the 80,000 mile warranty, but it is undetermined if they actually last that long. The warranty is not "full", it is pro-rated. If the tires have 72,000 miles on them the warranty is indeed still in effect - but only at 10% of the tire's value which they will happily apply toward your purchase of a new set of Goodyear tires. I think those will work for the regular 9-5, but you can't get them in the 225/45-17 size that the 9-5 Aero takes. I tried and the regional distributor said they aren't making them in those sizes yet. |
