I have a 2000, Saab 9-5 wagon. The remote feature to lock the doors, and
lock the trunk does not work any more. I can open the vehicle remotely.
Does anyone know what could be wrong?. Should I have the vehicle scanned
for trouble codes?

Have you tried replacing the battery in the remote?

I had the same problem a couple of years ago with my 9-5 wagon. I took it
apart and used used contact cleaner (spray MG Chemicals). Has worked since.
Test the battery with a DMM while you have it open.
