I ran across this site the other day, it's pretty new but could come in
handy.

www.saabswap.com

Found it on Topix.net :)

I'm trying to find out more about it as we speak. Hopefully will get a
repsonse to my email and I can figure out if it's worth supporting on my
site with a link, etc.

Newsgroups and web sites are international. So many sites don't specify
the country involved....where are these Saabs being sold? We read "$"
but the dollar is the currency of many countries. ".com" doesn't always
mean US!
There are people who browse the net and peruse the newsgroups who are
actually not from the US you know!! Me for one ....Australia.

All true, but that site looks nice and may be an asset to our little SAAB
comunity...
Also the 'Vintage Saabs' sections heaps al "92, 93, 94, 95, 96, 99, and 97/Sonnet"
- including the 94 is a bit optimistic, since there were only 6 made and it is
not likely that any one of them will be for sale
- 'Sonnet" should of course be "Sonett"
- if the 94 is in the list, the 90 should certainly be in the list, even if it
was only sold in some markets (not in the USA).

Agreed - it looks good so far and has got some ads on it already. I
registered today but when I tried to post a wanted ad the web-forums weren't
working properly.

Was the Sonnet a V4-powered Saab or did it have the first version of the
slant-4 Triumph-derived engine? I've got a forum category for V4-powered
Saab's on my site but wasn't sure if the Sonnett was part of that broader
classification or not.

The Saab 90 needs to get included with Saab 99's on my site too.

The Sonett I (94) and II (97) had the Saab two stroke engine.
The Sonett (II) V4 and Sonett III (1970-1971) had the 1500 cc Ford V4
The Sonett III 1972-1974 had the 1700 Ford V4

Ok thanks. Bit confusing but we've never had Sonett's here in Oz though I
believe there are a small number that have been privately imported over the
years.

Me too - I'm in Sydney.

Anyway I did get a reply - the site's run by the person who runs
www.saabo.com and from the intitial contact he seems ok. The saabswap.com
site has been going for a week and is based in the US.

Regards,

Craig.
