9000CSE windshield woes

Blah! I have basically a centimeter of rust ALL the way around my
windshield that over the winter went from being barely visible to being
visible to a few feet away. On the A-Pillar, there are 3 or 4 spots of
rust bubbling from the gasket about the size of a quarter. And the worst
part is, my windshield leaks like Niagra Falls. In moderate rain, I get
about a drop every 10 second from the top center. I have permanently
installed some paper towels behind the rear view mirror to catch some of
this. In a thunderstorm, I'll get almost a steady stream from up above,
and then some water intrusion from the bottom of the windshield as well.
I know its not factory glass as it says "ppg" all over it (and
definitely does not exhibit any UV/IR reflection), so whoever replaced
the glass last did a piss-poor job.

I don't think i'd want to tackle the rust myself (and have it come out
looking decent). Would it be worth it to have someone do the rust and
windshield at the same time? I'm guessing those big name brand "we'll
come to you" outfits wouldn't take care of rust, right?

anyone know of a good place in southern Maine/northern New England that
might tackle this sort of job and not take ALL of my money (I am a poor
college student after all!)

Thanks guys
-Chris

Hey Chris -
I've got a small patch of bubbling paint at the top of the windshield
on our 9000 too, so I'll be interested to see what anyone else has to
say about this.

>From what I have learned from other groups though, the proper cure
(windshield removal, re-spray, new seal & re-fit) won't be anything but
expensive. All the prices I've seen (UK) start from around £1,000
which sounds like a lot of money to me? I guess the A pillars /
windshield are critical to the structural safety, so you probably don't
want to try and go cheap.. Let us know how you get on.
