To the person who posted this, sorry lost original post on my
newsreader, and this is from Google:

"liked your pix.  I have a 1985 900s non turbo.  I don't see many on the
road  in Nebraska.  can you tell me if there ever was a trim piece on
the trunk  where the key fits in?  all the Saabs that I see in the same
era don't have  any type of trim piece.  I am thinking maybe there never
was a trim piece. I spent more money to fix it up (normal stuff brakes,
water pump, steering ect) then I spent for the car.  I have no regrets.
car starts and gets me  to where I need to go.

thanks
rod"

It was in the SPG/900 thread earlier.

Anyway, thanks.

The 84 and 85 hatchbacks have a 10-inch wide (?) or so piece that you
unlatch and lift from. The lock is embedded, and I think there might be
a license plate light on the underside. Is this the piece you're
wondering about. Otherwise the whole rear panel is flat black, with no
other trim that I can think of off the top of my head.

Mine always starts too, rain, sleet, snow, hail...well, not hail, we
don't usually get that around here...;)

you answered my question.  the horizontal piece where the lock is to me
seems like it might of had some kind of molding or something at one time.
We get hail here.  I haven't tested to see if my car will start in the hail.
(but I bet it would)  When at home my car is in my garage.

thanks
rod

No problem, Rod.

And btw, we do get very occasional hail here (New England) -- just had
some small pellets the other day. Nothing like you folks in the Great
Plains get, however.

Glad your Saab gets stored with a good roof over it!
