OK, here's the deal!

First I'm in Atlantic Canada in case that matters.

Was talking to a dealer yesterday and test drove a used 2000 9-5 with
106,000 kms.

They are willing to take my 2001 Civic with 92,000 kms in on a trade plus
$1,000 and I am once again a Saab owner. (owned a 93 years ago).

Is there a catch here that I don't see?

Is it a trusted Saab dealer?  If not, I would get the Saab inspected by
a trusted technician who knows Saabs.  It does seem too good to be true,
but Saabs do not hold their value, while Hondas and Toyotas do keep
their value at trade in.  I would also check the gas mileage on the 9-5.
I suspect it uses more gas than your Civic.  With the price of gas
these days, any car that gets great gas mileage is worth more and
anything that sucks gas is worth less.

Saabs hardly 'guzzle' gas though !

My thoughts exactly.  This may be an engine with some sludge issues...
