When I try and open the roof an error message appears stating "check
latches" according to the manual this means it is still locked into the
top of the windscreen, or the catches are not fully opened, but it is
unlocked and the catches are fully opened. any ideas?

i suspect it is one of the header latch switches. If the roof doesn't move
at all then it is almost definately one, you can check them with a small
screwdriver or pen. Open the latches and push the pen into where the roof
meets the switch if it clicks it is working if it doesn't then it will
have to be replaced. The fault will store a code in the ecu which will
have to be cleared using techII.
