Hi,
I have the 7 speaker system with factory stereo.
Obviously the speakers could be much better, so I'm considering
replacing them with aftermarkets. I know I have 4" speakers up front
and 5.5-6.5" in the front doors with 4" in the rear. My concern is
that they would be under-powered, making them worthless without an amp.
Stage 1:
Replace front and dash, for much better highs. Easy transition.
Stage 2:
Add new amp to rear, and add 6x9"s into open ports in rear. I read:
http://members.iinet.net.au/%7Emmo/Docs/saba_pdf.pdf for step by step
instructions. It seems reasonable. I don't see why it wouldn't work.
Taking the signal for the 1 set of rear speakers and boosting it so it
powers 2 sets. My concern is it overpowering the front speakers. I'm
also not sure why he didn't just run wires from the factory amp under
the passenger seat to the trunk, and then adding the line converter for
the amp. Speaker wire is much more concealable than RCA's.
Stage 3:
Option 1: Replace the factory amp (is it possible to do this)
Option 2: Use a 6 channel amp in stage 2 for all speakers
Option 3: Add a 2nd 4 channel amp to power both sets of front
speakers.
My concern with Options 1 and 2 are having to run speaker wires back to
all the speakers, or maybe I could just run speaker wires from the new
amp to the old amp, and then jump into the factory wiring there.
Does anyone see any issues, or can you make any reccomendations?

Sounds like, don't take this wrong, but you should buy a solution
engineered for the equipment you're keeping (if any). The impedances
aren't what you might expect them to be - I don't see you mention it,
and an impedance mismatch can do bad things to the sound and equipment.
