In relation to this, now that there are car stereo units with Ipod
connection functionality, has anyone installed such a sound unit in their
Saab (old or new) and found a good way to mount an Ipod (or similar mp3
unit) nearby?

I'm still waiting for the Dension integration box. It's what they call
their link "Gateway 500" and will allow full iPod functionality through
the SAAB infotainment system. But it has not yet been released as far
as I can tell from their website.
