Just a little easy test.
Check the voltage on the battery with engine not running (about 12 volts)
and engine running (not over 14 volts). If you get over 14 volts with engine
running you probably have a broken regulator. Bulbs don´t like to high
volts. A simple volt meter do the job.

Just to make sure, this is happening with both lamps and not just on one
side, correct? If so, it must be a voltage problem as described by
Blacksmith. If it is just one side, check that the lamp housing is secured
properly and doesn't vibrate and that there is no moisture inside the lamp
housing.

Also if it's just one bulb, it could be the dreaded orange bulb fail
sensor, though I'm not sure if they were still using them in 2003.
If it is the sensor rather than the bulb, then the light will stop
working and the warning will show up on the SID. Opening and shutting
the bonnet to change the bulb then jogs the sensor and the new bulb
obligingly lights up - for a while.
I think I threw away a couple of perfectly good bulbs before I
twigged.
Cheers,
Colin.
