I left the speaker grilles unstuck, with the intention of re-spraying them,
but I think I'll just glue them in and colour over with a thick marker pen.
That should do the trick. Looking at it, I'm quite glad I'm not going to use
vinyl for the c-pillars and the roof. I need to contrast, somehow.
The headliner is coming on ... Slow and steady. I hope to have it completed,
sunroof and all, for the next West Yorkshire get-together.
You know I decided to take the complicated route and NOT go with normal
headliner material :) Today, I got the foam onto the headliner, picked it up
and ... It snapped!!! Aaargh!
So, strengthened again, I'm now on the hunt for a good material, given that
vinyl simply will not work. I'm stuck on having it black and I've been
looking at potential fabrics. Erm ... What about crushed velvet? I know it
sounds extreme, but think about it. It's black (which is what I want), it's
textured so will cover small sticking/tucking faux pas and contrast with the
parcel shelf/speaker covers, it's unlikely to show when it gets dirty and
it'll be quite in keeping with the direction I've taken the rest of the
interior.
I need to look at some fabric and test for stretchiness ... Which do you
think would be best? Leeds or Dewsbury Market? I know Dewsbury used to be
really good, but I've not been for some years now.
Speaking of unique, how's this for a headliner job :o

Today, when it snapped, I thought, "oh, fsck it! Paper mache, a can of black
spray paint and a stack of old SAAB owners manuals would be good enough" :)
