Where? The Yorkshire Sculpture Park, West Bretton, just off the M1, south of
Wakefield.

Why? <http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/west_yorkshire/6463855.stm>
... And it's a nice country park, family friendly, educational, good local
pubs for lunch and perhaps a nice drive in the afternoon taking in a couple
of West Yorkshire's famous landmarks:

See <http://www.uksaabs.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=14984> for more details.

I think we intend to meet after 10am, stay around until after lunchtime to
allow any church go-ers, or stragglers to catch up and the take off for a
drive mid afternoon ... Then home :)

Propose the event as educational and she'll agree :)

Congratulations for the day! Many happy years, I trust.

Any tunnels?!? ;-))

You will be bringing the legendary Orca I take it?

Seriously, may be able to make it, but need to check with good lady. She is
abandoning me on Saturday to go on a girly trip up the Smoke so I think I
should be able to swing the morning at least!!

Al

(To anyone considering this, don't consider it......... just do it, I
thoroughly enjoyed the last one and can recommend the company)

There's a couple of bridges that go under the M1 :)
Actually, you must have inspected them at some point?

I will ... Still no velvet headliner, though ... I really need to pull my
finger out. I will try to get the wheels swapped over for my Imperial
Stormtrooper Super Incas :)

Final call for the West Yorkshire SAAB Meet-Up.
We'll be meeting today at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park from 10AM. Lunch will
be held at the West Bretton Institute and a tour of the local landmarks will
take place in the afternoon.

All welcome ...

Bring your own lunch, some outdoor clothes and have a full tank of petrol
(or diseasel if your car is so inclined) :)

Pah sorry I can't make it any more.  I should have said when I found out
last weekend I'm on duty today.

Besides, petrol is thin, weany stuff, there's nothing like sniffing your
diesel-stained fingers after a fill up... :o)

There's some good post-meet analysis over on the forum board topic:
<http://www.uksaabs.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=14984>

My gallery of the day is here:
<http://www.saabphotos.com/gallery/Orca_WY_01042007>

There were about twice as many cars as shown in the first picture, once we'd
all arrived. I took that picture quite early on (although not that early)
when I thought we'd all arrived ... And then a whole load more turned up.

The walk around the Sculpture Park was good fun. Lunch venue was fine and
the ride around in the afternoon was a hoot! Trying to convoy 15 cars
through multiple cross-traffic junction and keep together was a trial.
Leading it, I brought a whole village to standstill, too! We did make it to
the end destination, although in two main groups.

Much enjoyed - great day!

We're thinking a day out to Whitby more towards the summer and probably
another mini-meet for a pub lunch and walk around the Cow & Calf rocks at
Ilkley one Sunday soon. I'll post here again with any details as they
emerge.

If you're wondering WTF is going on in this picture ...
<http://www.saabphotos.com/gallery/Orca_WY_01042007/DSCF4401>
... This was a "come dressed as your forum board avatar" challenge levelled
by the chap with the flat cap and pipe against the chap in the crocodile
costume :) I've still no idea why a crocodile has four tits, but ... Hey :o
The fellow in the background playing crown green bowls was not one of us.

I'm afraid not ... They are very few and far between in the UK, certainly
Sonetts. I know of a few in our county/region, but their owners did not
attend. It looks like our next outing will be to the coastal town of Whitby,
home of Dracula and fish'n'chips :) Certainly one 96 owner does not live at
all far from there, so I expect him to attend!

They did get a couple (even a Sonett) down in Coventry last February:

b.2006/>

We did have a token Swede, though. Here's his write-up on STCS:
<http://forum.saabturboclub.com/viewtopic.php?t=179000>
He brought his Swedish registered C900i 2.1, which is a car we did not get
here in the UK.
