This comes from the tech, advisor to the UK Saab Owners Club, who runs
a Saab garage. The NG900s need a code.

The NG900's had radios that required a code to unlock them. With the
9-3 (and 9-5) the radio and CD changers are 'married' to the car
security system using the Tech II diagnostic tool the dealers use and
don't need a code entering when the battery is removed.
