I just had the alternator replaced about 6 months ago. It was obvious
due to the light on the dash warning of the problem.
My car is now dying with all of the indicater gauges going to zero as
if the car was being turned off at the ignition switch.  With these
symptoms could it be a DI problem or most likely a worn out ignition
switch,

Bad switch. The DI just makes the engine die, not the electrical
system.
