Hello all,
My 3-speed auto transmission is going on my '86 900 T and it will cost
an arm and a leg to fix. I have a spare engine from an '85 900 SPG with
low mileage that I have decided to swap it out so that I have a 5-speed
manual.

The engine has been sitting in my garage for a few years and needs some
obvious work do to inactivity. I am planning on installing the following:

1. New copper head gasket (Saab Saviour)
2. Rebuild kit, with rings and bearings for the drive shaft (Swedish
Dynamics)
3. Rebuild kit for the timing chain (the Saab Site)
4. New CenterForce clutch kit (Summit racing)
5. New alternator, starter and AC
6. New performance plugs, wires and coil (Summit)
7. New rising rate FPR, fuel rail and 32 PSI injectors (Swedish
Dynamics, Saab Saviour)
8. Used high flow intercooler

Can anyone think of thing that might be needed to be done? Most of these
things I have already purchased in last few years and do not to buy.

I already have a red box OEM APC to top this thing off.

I would love to put a high flow turbo and more agressive cam shaft but
that is way out of mu budget.

Are they making those again? Are they for 8 or 16V heads?

Nice - wanting to get the 8V version and a performance camshaft too for my
8V turbo car.

Ok 16V engine. Still sounds good.

Do you have all the parts to change the auto selector for the manual
transmission shifer components? Some of the parts are prone to breaking.
Would be really nice if someone had kits of parts to rebuild shifter
assemblies (not just the shifter shaft and the funny ball thing at the
bottom) so auto to manual conversions could be done with all new components
that are subject to wear and/or breakage for use and aging.

I do not know if they have an 8v, you can try him at
http://www.saabsavior.com (US english spelling, be careful).

I have the shifter assembly but still need to get the pedal assebmly from a
donor. I just split the tranny from the block and going to take the heads
off later this week, once they're off I will be getting them machined for
the new head gasket.
