Hi,
In order to fully trace the wiring run for the fuel sender I'm trying to
get the back seat slid forward and tilted up, but the seat has no
pull-handle to release the latch like all my other 900's have. Was the
rear seat latch setup different in the really early 900's?
Anybody know of a way without forcing one's hand down under the back of
the seat and trying to do a contortionist act to firstly find then
secondly release the latching mechanism that holds it in place? 8-)
Regards,
Craig.

Even if there isn't a little black knob sticking through the vertical
carpet below the cushion, there still should be at least the stub of the
metal rod sticking out. If so, pliers should see you right. After that,
screw some sort of nut right to the end of the thread then araldite
anything on the end that will work as a knob in the future.
Plan B - Put hand down back of cushion palm forward. Move your fingers
forward a few cms and you should cotact the other end of the release rod a
bit above the floor. Push it forward as far as possible & lift the cushion
(with the other hand!). If it doesn't free you prob need more pressure. It
shouldn't poke a hole in your finger until the 5th or 6th attempt :-)
Thick glove or even a thimble might be a good idea too. Cheers

My wife and I seem to have worked it out! Apparently the seat is only
latched on the left side (not in the centre as with the later 900's), and
there's meant to be a spring-loaded release rod with a knob poking out
through the carpet under the seat. The knob is missing, and the rod was
'floating' under the seat (still attached to the mechanism).
Will be taking some pics to put in the galleries to show the difference
between the two securing methods!
Craig.

And if you looked at the replies you had you would not have had to work
it out. :-)
Glad you got there anyway.
