Many thanks to Jim M

His answer of using the conventional key within the electronic key and the
plastic plug in the lefthand door handle was spot on.

Saab main dealer told me that there was no other access apart from charging
the battery!

Shows how much they know and they want me too trust them with repairs and
servicing?

No chance!

I seemed to have missed the original  answer to solve the above
problem.
Can someone reiterate please.
