1992 Saab 9000 - SRS light is staying on or at times is flashing.
Vehicle testing station will not issue a Warrant of Fitness for the car
while this fault is present so am hoping some one can give us a clue to
what it may take to remedy this.
Car is parked up awaiting a fix, a shame because otherwise it is in mint
condition.

There should be an error-code stored in the engine management system.
Have you tried to see if the horn works?

To crash with a Volvo is extremely safe.
If you're sitting in a Saab.

Eeyore (Eeyore <rabbitsfriendsandrelations@hotmail.com>) gurgled happily,
sounding much like they were saying:

Other countries may well differ from the UK.

Anyway, even if it was here (WoF is (IIRC) Aussie), it wouldn't be an
issue for the MOT.

My 92 9000T (USA) does have an airbag and the SRS light came on not too
long ago. Also happened on my Dodge Cummins Turbo diesel a while back.
That was the clockspring and the 92 9000 T is probably also the
clockspring in the steering wheel.

In the Dodge, the cruise control stopped working as well. Horns still
work in the 9000.

Disconnect the battery and leave it sit for a day. Then carefully remove
the airbag, keeping your head out of the way, and check the clockspring
for continuity. Replace it if defective.

If clockspring is OK, then it may be something else and it becomes more
complicated to diagnose.

BTW, the clockspring is what allows the steering wheel to turn back and
forth and still keep electrical connections - nothing to do with
timekeeping!
