hi i have a saab 9000cse 2.3t anniversary model.
ever since i have purchased this car the digital display on the computer
gizmo has been dull, whilst driving the other day it suddenly became bright
which was great.
since parking up  and leaving a few days it has gone dull again
i know you can brighten and dim the dash clocks but this has nothing to do
with that.
could it be a dodgy earth some where?everything else seems to operate
correctly.
regards
andy

Not sure about the 9000 in particular, but symptoms like that are
often down to dodgy connections to those bayonet-style lamp holders
they tend to use for the display illumination.

Replacing the backlight bulbs, or even just twisting the holders about
a bit often sorts out the problem.

Cheers,

Colin.

If it is both the clock and the MPG displays that are dimmed it is
probably a problem with the light sensor in the Electronic Display Unit.
It sits behind the small hole in the panel. IIRC there has been a
discussion earlier in this group about the problem.
