A SUPER feature on The Plain Brown Wrapper -Cousin George Krem's 1964
R3 Challenger 2-door- is the topic of Page 74's "Weekend Warrior" by
Columnist George Mattar in the February 2005 Hemmings Muscle Machines.
Full color, with a shot of Ted leaving the line in the car at The Pure
Stock Muscle Car Drag Race. ('Just got mine in today's mail as a
subscriber. Should be on the newsstands for single-copy sales around
January 15th.)

You'll be hard-pressed to believe George Krem, Ted Harbit, or myself
didn't write the article, and I assure you none of us did. Never has
such in-your-face cheerleading been written about this car. In fact, I
probably would have backed off a little if I was given the task of
writing the piece, for fear of appearing a little braggadocious!

But not general muscle car writer George Mattar, apparently. I guess
when you are so astonished by the performance of a car that most
hobbyists can't imagine being that fast, you can't contain your
excitement. Hey, we'll take it wherever we can get it for Studebakers!

I handed the article to my wife and said, "And THIS, honey, is what
Cousin George [Krem] and I have been striving for 40 years to see in
print!" YEEE-HAA!
So thanks, George Mattar and Hemmings Muscle Machines. BP

You guys are sure stirring up some interest. I've received more phone
calls from Brand X'ers looking for R2, cars in recent months. Some even
mention " Like the Plain Brown Wrapper" and a few are shopping "For a
client"  I even offered to build a clone, but they are searching for
"investment quality cars." (A phrase I never thought I'd hear about a
Studebaker) Of course others are calling looking for $3000 R2's, but
they are calling.
A few more years of Ted and company, and everyone will think all
Studebakers are collectible Muscle Cars. <g>
