Certificate of Origin, a kind of manufacturers title.

It's very possible there could be other Studes out there that have never
been titled. If a car has stayed in a dealer's family, there would have
been the chance it was never registered with the state, and run on the
streets with a dealer plate. It's not unusual for "family demonstrators" to
go for years without getting registered.
If that was true about Nate's car, I hope he made a copy of the Certificate
of Origin before he turned it in to the state. He most certainly had a
piece of Studebaker Literature few of us have ever seen or will have the
opportunity to see. It's almost certain it was destroyed by the state after
the car was titled.

See previous post... it had gone through at least two "owners" besides
the dealer without being titled before I got it (JP and the guy he
bought it from) and it was long gone...

Yeah, and the MVA wanted me to produce a copy of that document! When I
said that I didn't have it they suggested I contact the manufacturer.

Hi all , If I recall the last studebaker built or assembled, was in New
Zealand in late 1966 , not sure of the month. It was a 1965 model .There
was a story about it some years ago in TW. The car is still around as
far as I know, perhaps one of our south Pacific members can throw some
more light on the last Studebaker built?
Some 1965 models were sold in 1967 & 1968 here in Australia but were
really early 1965 models not sold in that year. Their were no 1966
models assembled in this part of the world. Hope this is of some help .
Roger.

At the muesum yesterday, a visitor remarked on a "Ameriucan car" fest
he had visited in New Zealand. He was impressed most by ther quality of
the Studebakers gathered there - about half of the cars seemed to by
"ours."
As you might expect, I gave him quite a rundown on Studebakers and SDC
clubs in the Antipodes.
(Probably more than he wanted to know.)
