Is there an official factory method for adjusting the dashpot and the
fast idle screw on a Stromberg WW 2bbl?  I couldn't find a procedure in
the shop manual.  Would like to eliminate all carb problems before I
start troubleshooting the rest of the fuel system.  I looked in the FSM
but didn't see any specs.

thanks,

nate

Nate, I have "The Idiots Guide to Volkswagon's" around here somewhere.
Muir covered that. I'll look for it tonight. In my opinion the best
automotive repair manual ever written.....

I think he's referring to Stromberg WW series 2v carb used on Stude V8's.
Not VW's

Sure. Setting the fast idle is in the 'Gasoline' section under
'Adjustments', and dash pot is in the Flight-O section under
'Maintenance and Adjustments'. In your case you might have to refer to
two different manuals.

ah... found the fast idle thing.  It wasn't in the '56 manual but it is
in my 59-64.  That one I just missed, must be blind.  The presence of
the dashpot in the FOM section would explain my inability to find it :)
(why would it be there?  I don't understand)

as to why I'm messing with this stuff in the first place, I had to
adjust them both out to set the base idle for some reason... both were
keeping the throttle from closing enough to achieve a 600 RPM idle...

thanks

I'm not sure if this is Jeff's or Dave's way of doing it, but it did
remind me of you. <G>
