Hello Stude Addicts
Thanks for all the help on installing my NOS TT axle.   Following sound
advice I had a professional dismantle and inspect it before
installation.   I figured I would have to replace the seals and there
was the possibility the shafts and/or bearings might have rusted in
place.   The Austin Drive-train folks told me that the internal parts
all look like they were built yesterday.   It really is NOS.
I have not yet installed it; the old one is still in place.   Currently
I am in a fight to the death with a stubborn spring shackle bolt.
Question:   will the drive shaft have to be shortened?  I did not think
about that until today.  It will need new U bolts aka "clips"  and
plates.   HD springs are being installed also and they are a bit
thicker than stock.
Thanks again

Hey Tony -

I was glad to read this information...since I sold that rearend to you!
It reinforces the fact that most people in the Stude hobby can be
trusted; as I bought it from a guy who bought it from a guy who had
bought it from a guy...and it was sold as "NOS" all those times!

How are you progressing on the GT, other than that?  I haven't been on
here a lot to keep up...but I do see the occaisional post from you.

Hi, I was wondering if you knew if the pretty Blue GT in Austin ever
sold. I stopped getting replies from the owner but it is still listed
on the internet. Any idea?

If you are replacing a Model 44 rear with another Model 44 rear the
driveshaft will not change.  Likewise for 22 or 27.  If you are stepping
up from a 22 or 27 to a 44 you will have to have the driveshaft shortened.
