Beautiful white 4-dr Avanti spotted on fwy. in Houston, but had gold Masertati nameplates, & did not say Avanti on it anywhere. Anybody seen or heard of this car? I wonder if it is Maserati powered? Barry; Let me know if you ever find out more about this 4-door Avanti. Along with Gary Croletto, we've been trying to complete a 4-door owners database. Of the supposedly 90 cars built, we know only 37. Anyone in Ohio ever hear what John Jay (JJ) Cafaro is doing these days. I've thought about trying to contact him to see if he kept any of the sales data. Guess he'd be in Youngstown directory, eh. It is a body shell only; no chassis or running gear or interior. I don't "like" the idea of a 4 door Avanti, but when I see one, I like it better than most 4 doors I have seen. I don't have a "Jones" on my Avanti 4-door roster. Jeff - first time I saw an Avanti 4-door, I thought "geesh, what an ugly car", but as Dave says, the more I saw it, the better I liked it. My 4-door is pearl white, has double pin striping (which better accents the shape), has dark tinted windows (which does help the look) and has after market wide chrome 5-spoke wheels (which really looks good). Comments I get are very positive. Also, the mock up Studebaker did was a body with 2 doors on only one side. Looks even more awkward than what Cafaro produced. Avanti Motors has the mock up. BTW, the Avanti club produced a calendar this year and my 4-door is the December model. They have more than a passing resemblance to the Avanti. Craig. The Maserati looks like a 4 dr Avanti??? HUH??? I'm sorry but I don't see ANY resemblance...other than 4 wheels and 2 too many doors!!!
