the Langhorne PA Speedway? I was watching my favorite video tonight for
the umpteeth time: The Early Years of NASCAR; 1950-1959. Many of the
featured races were held at the one-mile, dirt-track Langhorne PA
Speedway. I haven't heard of it for years, and wondered if any NGers
know what happened to it, or the ground on which the track was built.
Just curious and would appreciate any posts regarding Langhorne's fate.
(BTW, this isn't necessarily OT; several Studebakers are shown in the
running...but with zero factory interest, you can imagine how they
fared<G>.) Thanks. BP

I understand what was left is now part of Reedman's Auto Dealership,
they sell about everything.

I have several old books (autobiographies) of racers that talk about
Langhorne a lot.
They talk about the 'D' shape of the track and how they hated racing there.
Mario Andretti and AJ Foyt come to mind as to the mentions.
Iirc, Mario's book mentioned it had closed in the sixties.

http://www.silhouet.com/motorsport/tracks/langhorn.html says that they put
up a shopping mall on the site. Google gives a lot of hits.

Hello,
This info came from a friend:
We attended our first Indy car race at Langhorne in 1966. It was paved
and very fast. All the big names were there, Andretti, the Unsers, Johncok,
Foyt, Ruby and Dallenbach. I don't recall who won. The track was dug up
many, many years ago and became a shopping center.
