Checked with my tranny shop re what kind of gear oil they put in my
T86/OD - they showed me something in a drum that said 'api gl-2' on it,
no mention of mineral, etc - how do I find out if this is what's hosing
my OD?

Though not an expert, I think that oil is OK for your OD..Are you
having problems with the OD ?

Pat, Harley spec.  20W50 (I sell it!  http://www.oldcarfart.com) is
GL-1 rated for use in V-twin gearboxes.  Most Studaphites too
f-n-frugal to use good stuff but it exceeds the lubrication
requirements and makes it shift great!
