There's seems like alot amiss here.  I'm definitely not an expert, but
I think that's a 58 grille.  The body tag looks okay, but what's up
with the VIN number?  Shouldn't that start with a 57 intead of a 61?

Still learning....

Golden Hawk serial numbers were not 'date coded' 61000 series does not
have anything to do with the year. It does have a 58 grill badge, but
that'll only cost you $50 to replace with correct one.

that is a later grille as well as the side grilles but the SN may be
right.  the body number is, anyway.  I don't think they started putting
the year in the SN until a couple years later.

it does look a bit salty underneath, & has just the type of underbody
corrosion which accompanies copious amounts of body filler in those
rust-prone areas.

Went back and read most of his feedback. Kinda poor track record, the most
used description in the negative feedbacks " Overstated car's condition". A
comedian couldn't write stuff like this.

Seems to me to have a lot of issues, and some of the photos start to ask
more questions.

One body mount looks shot, there is rust under the car, some expected some
not. The VIN plate looks as if someody was trying to pry off the tag,
possibly to put a new one on. What most folks don't know is that you can use
ACC and place the replacement or 2nd tag over the original and you would
never know it was there......... illeagel but looks good.

Other things that bothe me is the nose is too high, but that might be due to
spring replacement, the runst shown by the right fin down low could be a
major fix. The major glaring error is that the side grilles should have
those dummy chrome strips in them.

However, even at $15000 the car is a bargin unless there are hidden problems

I could be wrong but I may have seen this car in northern Quebec a few years
ago - around Noranda. It had a similar interior and the same '58 medallion.
But its exterior colour was the GH metallic gold and white, not this 'kinda
gold' and white. It may have been repainted though. I never saw the
underside at the time.

I was told by an agent for the owners that it was originally owned by the
Studebaker dealer in Noranda and was passed down to his nephew who restored
it. They were asking $20,000 Canadian at the time. I offered her $12,000
upon closer inspection, but was turned down. A year later I asked about it
again and was told it had been sold to someone in the States for $12,000. Go
figure.

Now, I can't honestly say it is the same car, but it does look eerily close.

Joe.

According to the title, it looks like it spent most of it's life in
Ohio.
