Might that be one of those "survivors?"

No engine pics?  Strange.

Look closer, there is one, looks good under the hood, just needs detailing.

Your slipping, it needs painting. There is a phot showing a big scratch, the
long view from the right shows the need for some serious buffing, and
possible wetsanding.

I think the car is magnificent, to paraphrase. I would throw it out of my
drive way, there is more room on the road.

But I  am guesstimating that about $5000 to make it a show car. If you could
touch up the scratch, scuff the color and hit it with CC maybe you got
something.

I had a door that had been repainted on the Survivor that did not
match well so they shot and blended the entire drivers side for $600. No
one could ever see the blend line. The fact the it still has the factory
paint makes for a easier repaint, but it still would cost 5K or better.

Hmmm.  I missed that.

BTW- I know the paint needs work, but a very solid low miles, true '64 R-2
4-speed needing only common black carpeting on the interior and little if
any body work???  It looks to be absolutely authentic too.

Looks like the coolant tank is chromed - I've seen a number like that,
did Studebaker ever do that or is it dress up?

Nope, the paint is just peeled, they did not chrome them at the factory.

Isn't the coolant tank just the copper color where the weak black paint
has fallen off?
Mike - 19 Apr 2005 21:47 GMT
Nice car!
What's with the stray fuel filter between the carb and distributor?  Did
they order one for a '63 and couldn't find anyplace to put it?

It's from August, (4923).  I think it has the thin front seats.  Thick
came in Sept, (5361?).
I think I see Tilt, AM/FM, and PW.  He should list those!

And a fader knob for a rear speaker.  This car is really optioned.

Wow is still right!  The seller added a $25,000 "Buy It Now" and somebody
punched it.  I emailed him about not mentioning the power windows, tilt
wheel, AM-FM and rear speaker and he thanked me and did add them to the
description.

Does this mean, he owes you a commission?

That has to be a record for a unrestored Avanti that needs paint and
more. Looks like we'll have a hell of a seller market this season.
