I was writing a high performance manual drivetrain chapter for our
students today and came across the use of offset dowel pins to align a
bellhousing. Sounded much easier than the Studebaker method, and could
be redone later if the bellhousing changed. Looked at Summit and they
carry pairs of .007" offset (which you can turn with a screwdriver to
nudge the bellhousing into alignment) for GM (Chevy) and Ford/MoPar.
Anyone done this on a Stude? What size are our V8 dowels?

Stude dowels are 11/32" (.343") which reinforces their orphan status in the
aftermarket.
Fortunately the Stude bellhousing has plenty of area around the dowels for
oversizing or relocating.
