In preparation for changing the water pump on my '64 CDR OHV6, I have
removed all the bolts (3) and hoses (2), etc.

I tried wiggling it a bit, then beating on it, very quietly.
(Tough-rules condo, you understand.) No luck.

I guess that it's a tight fit of the flange of the pump flange within
the block.

Any suggestions?

Hit it harder.

Hit louder, and carry a big hammer.

Thanks John and Pat.

Funny thing, no one suggested a rubber hammer, which might just do the
trick. If I had one. Maybe I can make it out of my wall material!

1st try will be a bar in the hose outlet.

Next, if needed, will be hitting it with a big piece of wood.

Check real carefully and make sure you have all the bolts out. You could
break something you know, hitting it real hard.

Karl,
Did you getthe water pump off? Call SASCO and get a new one instead of a
rebuilt. SASCO's new ones have bigger bearings and are a new casting.

Yes make sure all the bolts are out and then go out ther when the kids
come home and when they drive by with the sterio on smack the pump body
with a hammer.

Hell they shure would love me with my fender wells setting off all
their car alarms.

put a piece of wood on pully flange and beat the piss outta the wood,
makes very little noise.
