drive it first, I found the passenger compartment "snug".  BTW did you
know GM is offering vehicles at "GM Employee Pricing" until July 5th?

Yabbut you have to drive a GM car!

personally I have no seat time in the 'stang but I can't help but think
it would be a big step up from a Grand Am...

Are they calling it "Severance Pay Pricing"?

Give the US 20 years and we're going to be 95% dependant on foreign made
products.  I think I heard right today that GM is quoting manufacturing
costs of 10% in China for every American job.  The jobs in Mexico probably
aren't even safe.

GM has a very similar problem that Studebaker had...
I read that about 40% of the price of a GM car goes toward pension
liabilities.
They are so seriously underfunded, that a default of this magnitude would be
greater than the GNP of a lot of countries. This could seriously F/U the
economy. You can bet that they are watching the United Air Lines fiasco
(read that screwing) closely to develop their next few moves. China is a
component that may well keep them alive. ...as lousy as that sounds...
Severance pay pricing? I doubt that. The rebates have stopped working, the
zero interest loans have stopped working, and this is the next straw they
are grabbing. Shoot, they are soaking the Hummer H2 to shrink it to an
H3....   This payback is going to be a bitch...

On the news tonight they said that every car GM makes costs them $1500 in
health care benefits.

I'll betcha it's way more than that.... I was talking pension liabilities...
(but I don't remember exactly what I read a bit back, so that may well be a
better number...)

On the NBC Nightly News they're already saying that if United gets their
way, other airlines are already looking at following suit.  Gotta keep those
stockholders happy... screw the employees.  The more I read about the GM
deal the more I get pissed and swear never to buy one of their products.
Detroit's going to look like a Pennsylvania steel mining town unless
something miraculous happens.

The "Severance Pay Pricing" was a joke... it's about all GM can offer
anymore.

Good news, I hear Walmart's hiring.

I don't know about the '05 but a friend of mine has an '04 Mach 1 that he
likes except for when he has to buy gas.  She may also be interested in the
new Dodge Charger... to me it kind of looks like a big Mustang from the
couple times I've driven past one.

Lee (but then I only buy Toyota)

The one thing I will say about the Mustang is that it should hold its resale
value above average for a North American car.  And maybe if you keep it long
enough (i.e 25 years) and keep it looking showroom-new, you may even get
back what you paid for it...

I've had an 05 Mustang (v6, stick, premium package with leather) for
the last 3 months. Very solid, very good performance for a v6, nice
trunk, very snug back seat (but about the same size as my 96 Beretta)
20mpg strictly stop & go in town, 25mpg mixed, 29mpg all highway. If
you have any other questions, email me at jpfingstag@uticorp.com
