Area police report

Multiple wrecks and a stalled car snarled northbound traffic on Interstate
35 in West Friday at the start of the evening rush hour.
Around 3:50 p.m., a jackknifed 18-wheeler cut traffic to one lane on I-35 in
West. As cars slowed down as a result of that accident, five cars were
involved in a chain collision about a half-mile from the tractor-trailer, a
Texas Department of Public Safety Dispatcher said.
The traffic jam got worse after a 1964 Studebaker idling nearby overheated
and stalled on one of the highway's main lanes, the dispatcher said.
