Well just DIRTY NAME!!!!! I was all set to take Preston the '51 half ton to
Spokane Monday. So today I gave him a bath, waxed him up, Vacuumed him all
out and just made him all nice and pretty looking. Then I went to my
coworker's place to get my 18 foot car hauler to trailer him to Spokane.
The plan was to trailer him to the meet, drive him around in Spokane that
week, then trailer him back home. About 5 hours on a '51 pick up just
didn't excite me.
Anyway, Everything was all set and it was time to get Preston up on the
trailer. Now he's been sitting for a while, so as usual, the carb has lost
it's prime. Poured some gas down the carb, turned on the ignition and
mashed in the clutch to crank the engine. Grind grind grind grind....
Nada. Try it again Grind grind grind grind... Nothing again. Pour a bit
more gas in the carb and try it again. Grind grind grind... Cough whine.
Ok it's trying now. Grind grind grind... Cough whine. Several more tries
with the same result of "cough & whine" but nothing more. By now the
battery is getting low so I swap it out for the back up. Before trying
this time, I gave it a shot of starter fluid. Grind grind grind cough. A
couple more coughs & whines then suddenly the starter goes quiet. The
battery still has some charge, but the starter doesn't even go click much
less "urg" or grind. AAAAAAARRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
By now, it's 3:30 in the afternoon and I don't have time to try and figure
things out. So, I go with plan "B" and make a mad dash over to the
insurance agent's to get coverage on "Rhonda" the '62 GT. At least I know
that she starts, runs and will move. So... Look for an ermine white '62 GT
with a black incorrect interior at Spokane like as not that will be "Rhonda"
Who knows, I just might be some where in the area too, so look for a guy
with a Bugsport or Newsgroup T-shirt and either a Bugsport or Newsgroup cap
in the area. That will probably be me.
See Y'all there,
Glenn
