Sounds like fun.
Jeff, How are you cleaning the engine? I was thinking of spraying mine down
with Simple Green and let it soak in the sun for a while and then hose it
down good. Any other suggestions for cleaning the engine?
Thanks,
Tim

At the shop, to start prepping a car for paint, we have been using a
slightly diluted Formula 409, it's a grease remover, and water soluble.
Works great and a LOT cheaper than wax and grease remover bought at the
paint store.

Sounds like a good plan.
We used Zep Citrus cleaner..
Soaked it down good.
Stiff brushed it and wire brushed the hard stuff..
Pressure washed it, then beer rejuvenated and repeated the process.
Put the engine in the shop and blew it off with an air hose and beer
rejuvenated and dried with towels.
Let dry overnight.
We're masking off the ports and bead blasting and painting all the loose
stuff right now.
Only had one disaster this morning and it was a whole 5 minutes into the day
<lol>

Sounds like not enough "beer rejuvenation" <G>.

Whew... What a hot and humid Florida day today was...
Shop was nice and cool this morning..
Rick started prepping the block for paint and I diddled around modifying the
manual trans bellhousing mounts to work on the later model auto bellhousing.
After a little machining, grinding and making a couple of spacer pieces, it
fits like factory.
Made a run to the NAPAflaps and picked up the trans input shaft and output
shaft seals.
No way was it going together without those.
Prepped all the gasket surfaces and Rick masked everything off real perdy
like.
Then Rick started spraying that teal crap and stunk up the whole shop.
That was when we both decided to head out for lunch.
Sonny's BBQ has seen worse, but we looked awful.... Filthy, covered in crud
and Rick stunk.
(He won't admit it, but he made Calvin seem tame today... <no g>..)
Went to get some bolts for the trans mounts, and of course I got the wrong
size...
Finished painting the teal, and now we have to beadblast all the brackets
for black paint.
Tweaked one of my AFB manifolds for this engine and painted it.
Set up some shiny crap to tease Nate and took some pic's.
Decided it was afternoon break time and we came in to do the NG shuffle.
Rick has his camera to download.
Man, it takes some awesome pic's..
You can see every crappy piece of dirt in my shop in every stinkin' pic
<lol>
