How many people aren't attending the meet in Spokane?

Of those not attending, how many are boycotting the SDC because of policies
and over  museum issues?

I'm not going because I live in SC and the meet is in WA.

I wonder if there will be any first place GT Hawks there?

Most likely.  Question is, will they be judged accordingly?

I'll be driving my '64 GT to Spokane (400 miles or so) but it will be
displayed only. Don't need the grief of judging.

Not going, but just because it's about as far away as is possible.

Hopefully nobody will be able to use that excuse for next year... it should
be about the same for everyone.

I understand.

Just wondered if that was a reason, or an excuse.  <G>

New Grandson coming, New Job, No Money, still have to do the lark
wagon.

Let the politicers bellyache and blah blah blah all they want to on
whatever subject is the hot one. I go for the cars, meet people, go
someplace new and gain ten pounds eating out at new places all the
time.

Hope to go to Omaha in the 52 Commander. Saving up now

Only reason I'm not going is because it's WAY on the wrong end of the
country, about the only way they could have made it further away and
still in the US and drivable would be to hold it in Alaska.

But think of the great caravan we could have on the Alaska Highway!

I'm not going because my project is not complete.

The museum and it's issues is between the museum , the city and SDC
Inter.

same question could be asked of other issues within SDC.... not fair or
relevant.

I am involved in many groups, Most are archery and hunting related.
Take it from me, the easiest way to destroy a hobby or a group is from
strife within........

Stop and think just a moment.......

I don't post here often but I read this group every day.

I just read where a fender(NOS) for a barracuda sold for 3200-4000
dollars, I can still get all four fenders for a C/K for the price of
one fender for a Mopar vehicle.

I see on ebay where vehicles are bid up to an actual value hoping a
"novice" will drive the price above "fair market value". thus we all
can benifit from those high sales dollars.

Someone needs to decide are Studes(and all classic/antiques) a business
or a hobby?

When the price exceeds the common guys ability to pay, it is a game for
only the "elite" to play in.

Then the market crashes, you want an example........ Corvairs,
Mustangs, Hudsons T -birds....

People have worked long and diligent for a Museum to be proud
of.......... I'll support the HONEST effort.

Now i'll go back and hide...... I hate soap boxes.

Well, I'm going, and will hit the road in the morning to arrive in the
late afternoon. Nice to have it so close for a change!

I hadn't heard of any movement to boycott SDC or national meets over
policy issues. If there is any such movement, it's right off the radar
screen around here.

Here, too.

Some radars have very narrow scopes.

I have learned that recently.

Thought you'd never ask!  <G>

I have been "caught shot," twice this week.

I hate it when that happens!

I have learned that no matter what resources you have available to you,
Mother Nature has a mind of her own, and her own agenda.  (She is not alone
in this regard,)

Some things, you just have to wait until they happen to know about them.
Other things are on some radar screens, but are of no real consequence,
whatsoever.

We're getting a spinkle of rain right now, confirmed by my wet T-shirt.  (I
just stepped outside.)  This made me check the radar images before going to
bed.  Looks like we are in for a lot of rain, (maybe) but nothing severe.
(Maybe.)  If I'm lucky, I can confirm the rain in the morning.  If I'm not
totally lucky, I'll be awakened by a flash of lightening, a clap of thunder,
or the sound of my trees being torn apart by high winds.  If I'm half lucky,
I'll be awakened by a phone call from dispatch telling me all hell is about
to break loose.

At this time, it appears that any storm in the area just can't cover the
distance, as oppossed to being pissed off about something other than it's
abilty, as compared to desire, to strike the area.  (Make the meet.)

Them radars are a wonder sometimes. I've seen it pour down rain here at
home and nothing is showing on the TV stations radars. Next time the
radar will show all kinds of rain and not have a drop falling.
Tonight the rain is splitting and going north and south of my house.
Maybe next time.

my hubby is not going only because his ride had to cancel due to a death in
the rides family.  But with the cost of gas and in an RV I am kinda glad
they cancelled.  We definitely plan on being in Omaha, considering it is
just a hop, skip and a jump away.

Speaking of scopes....
I went outside to remove a varmint with my trusty .22 and went to dispatch
the critter and couldn't see a thing.
Nice air conditioned lenses didn't take too well to 92 degrees and 95%
humidity.
Totally fogged over..
T'was his lucky day...

I'm not going because this rental unit silliness I've been going
through for the past few months has hit me for several thousand bucks
and I finally bnit the bullet. I also owe about $3K to my partner,
which I will be paying this week.
I just sent a bunch on the UK tour with the Studebaker club there and
so on.
It was worth every GBP!

I am quite happy with SDC, which is quite a change from how I've felt
in the past, as you well know. Things ain't 100% perfect, but neither
am I.
I'll miss seeing those who will be there, but I will be able to attend
Reno ZM next month - in a city I love.

I assume that all who have a complaint have passed it on, in detail, to
their representative on the B/D.

Got the money, but too cheap to spend it.  Now, dare I ask about the
bad politics and the museum?  I must be out of the loop on that one.

Spokane is too far from Ohio.  Omaha may not be, Stanton definately is
not too far. I’m heading up there is a month. Watch for the red Lark
VI.
Lee Aanderud - 16 Aug 2005 02:52 GMT
I'm getting excited for Omaha, but if gas is going to be $3.00+ per gallon,
I'm going to be less and less excited.
