Oil may take another big price jump if Chavez cuts off our oil after
Christian broadcaster Pat Robertson suggested on-air yesterday that
American operatives assassinate Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.

John, I'm sure you know this, but it's not our oil, it's their oil.

Technically, Pat Robertson could be charged for violating the Patriot
Act as suggested here by the Venezuelan press
http://www.vheadline.com/readnews.asp?id=45611

Of course, now you could too. <g>

Chevez is a jerk, but this just helps him push his plan to stop selling
us their oil. We get 15% from them.

Um..... Saddam's gone, but we haven't gotten any oil.... as a matter of
fact, we're paying Haliburton around $5/gal to bring  oil into Iraq so
the locals can buy it for about $0.15/gal so they won't hate us more
than they do now.

Frank,

The Studebaker Drivers Club has nothing to do with this thread.  People who
are intereseted in Studebakers and read this newsgroup do and they have
opinions like any other newsgroup or person in this world.  I think you
should rethink why you no longer belong to SDC.

WTF does the alt.autos.Studebaker newsgroup have to do with the SDC?
Take a pill Frank.
The thread was marked OT (off topic)...
The authors spewed on command to a troll post, just like they were trained
to.
You want them to start marking the threads DPFO? (Don't Piss Frank Off)

More O.T., oil just hit $67.40, up almost a dollar and yet another new

Many years ago I read an article about a man in a Los Angeles suburb who hit
oil in his back yard. I think he was digging a pool or something like that.
Oil kept seeping in. So he built a sump with a cover and let it fill with
oil.  A vacuum truck would come by ever so often and pump out a few thousand
gallons. I don't remember how often they came by though.

In Texas, one can unknowingly "drill" into "pools" of crude, gasoline
and a number of other petroleum based liquids most often from a breached
pipe line.  There are zillions of 'em.  Once in a awhile, one blows up
and flattens a house or two...

Kind of reminds me of when they drop the puck on center ice.
From one end to the other -- then eventually someone gets pissed and swings a
high stick.
There's no penalty box, so some just get the puck out and go home.
It's all so productive. <g>

Chavez doesn't really have a lot to say about where Venezuelan oil goes,
once it's shipped out of the country it pretty much disappears into the
world supply of oil and goes wherever the demand is.

However IMHO Robertson still shouldn't have said that, that little
Communist twerp down in Venezuela is paranoid enough as it is.

My mother's cousin has a lovely home in Beverly Hills, he owns the
land "part and parce" yet, he does not own the oil rights under his
home. THIS GOES BACK TO THE LATE 60'S, I am not sure if a home owner
is still subject to that ruling anymore.

Marilyn gets a bit of money just for the rights to drill on property
that she sold years ago, but retained the mineral rights to.

Haven't hit anything yet - nor have they even drilled.

Actually, Pat Robertson, dipstick that he is, has put his own head in
a noose.

If ANYTHING happens to Chavez now, he is going to be blamed for
inciting it, and Chavez has enemies enough at home.

If Chavez is assassinated, I could well see Venezuela demanding his
extradtion for trial on conspiracy charges. (And Dubya might be happy
to so easily rid himself of a loose cannon.)
