Wow - beautiful car, Dale. How about some under hood and interior shots?

Picture posting of those items seemed hardly worthwhile. The black car looks a
lot nicer in the photos than it is but the car is very solid with minimal rust.
I found registrations of the previous owner in the glove box back to 1978. It
has a 1960 Carthage Illinois tax sticker on the windshield.
I did not want the President to be subjected to criticism, right or wrong, and I
want to stand by my President, but that made it hard to take a picture without
a tripod.
The President is "original" and undetailed under the hood. Some dirt and
unpainted areas. I started to replace the plug wires until I realized the wires
were cloth covered -- whoops, regroup. They don't arc across -- so that can
wait, maybe.
The upholstery has been redone by the previous owner and is presentable but the
dash and garnish molding woodgrain is poor/original. It appears that he had some
exterior chrome replaced. I'm more interested in making it cruisable only as I
have too many projects that need attention. I have encouraged an artist friend
(Rick Moon) to look into woodgraining if "we" can do authentic grain
restorations. It is an interesting field and the original 1930's process is not
what I had believed before researching it.
Perhaps it will run at the October hill climb if I can get some other stuff
done. My son-in-law earned the privilege of driving it at the hillclimb by
working so hard (with the formerly dragging brakes and the stuck clutch) to get
it on his trailer.
Helpful hint: Make sure the OD cable is ALL the way out to keep from
freewheeling when you are trying to unstick the clutch. This is especially
deceiving if the brakes are dragging.

Good reason to take lots of detailed pics - aside from those of us who
appreciate the 'faded beauty' of an unmolested car, it might be
worthwhile to someone wanting to know what everything looked like.

Dale,
That is one nice lookin' car!
I would be interested in hearing more about the woodgraining. I have been
experimenting with my 36 Packard's window surrounds without much luck.

I bought it at a country auction without many interested bidders.
For lack of any better guidance I based my bid on the low end of the ranges in
the Old Cars Price Guide.
He should do Ok in the larger market on ebay.
On the other hand, my grandfather bought a good 39 President Cruising Sedan for
a few hundred dollars. But that was in 1949.

He's a street rodder, thought the car was too nice to cut up, but he's
looking for 12K or so. It's damn near a perfect car though, one water
spot on the factory interior, never restored. I want to help, cause
he'll rod it if he has to, and I've never seen a nicer unrestored example.

JP,
I've got a '37 Dictator 4 door sedan which is a partly-built street
rod. Some parts for it, too. I figure it's worth about $3k. If your
friend with the Pres is looking to do a rod, this might fit the bill.
Sidemount, too.
Perhaps there's a 3 way deal waiting to happen?
I have pics, if there is any interest.
