A year or so ago the Starlite Drive In in Durham NC burned down. Very
sad, one of the few remaining Drive In's left in North Carolina.
The great news is after a lot of hard work this weekend the Starlite is
reopening Saturday night with a showing of "The Dukes of Hazard" and
they are going to have one of the original General Lee's.

We had a Starlight drive in, in South Bend, but we all called it the
finger bowl. <g>

our big drive-in was off US-1, but the back row was called "Firestone
Lane" because as stated in the old commericals it was "where the rubber
hits the road". BTW, one hint the clown you hired for your kid's
birthday party has an issue is that all the animal balloons are ribbed
and lubricated. <grin>.

On a related note, the drive in here has reopened since the passing of
the original owner.

Kinda fitting that it's called the "Starlite"
;)

For some trivial information, the Starlite Drive-In in Edmonton opened in
1949 and was Alberta's first drive-in theatre. It closed in 1971 for a new
high-rise apartment complex (aaaarrrgghhh) called Whitehall Square.

The long since abandoned drive in in Stillwater was the Moon Light.

Tulsa still has a drive-in called the Admiral Twin with two screens back
to back,
Another one no longer here was the Air-View (near the airport).
I can still remember going to the play ground as a kid and riding the
Crosley Fire truck.

No but...
We have these meetings every day to talk about production and our
numbers , (generally long, very boring meetings) well one right around
the first of the year the numbers were particularly grim. At the end of
the meeting the production manager looked around the room and asked if
anyone had anything else.
One of the other engineers is a really cute young little black lady, and
she slowly said "I think I've got something..."
Then she said (you guessed it), "I saved a lot of money on my car
insurance!".
The whole room broke up, it was just what we needed.
