Has anybody ever put a 63/64 body on an unmodified Avanti II frame? I
just bought a beautifuuly restored 81 Avanti II chassis, and the frame
appears identical my old 63, with the exception of the body mounts on
the firewall and the middle three outriggers, all of which are about
3/8" higher than the old mounts. It wouldn't be a major undertaking to
cut and re-weld them lower to the frame, but if the difference is only
3/8", I might just leave it as is (might even be an advantage in terms
of more clearance for big tires as the springs age).

That was to get rid of the rake and give more hood clearance for the
mouse motor. You should end up with the Avanti II stance. Be aware by
81, Avanti motors was using the six cylinder sedan frames and adding a
home made X member. Some, but not all of those frames had sat outside
rusting for 15 years and were pretty thin after sand blasting.

Avanti II front fenders had an insert bonded-in to lower the top of the
wheel opening lip (ie, the wheel opening on Avanti II doesn't come up as
close to the top of the fender as did the original Avanti) to compensate
for less rake. If you use the later frame mounts as is, you may end up
with weird-looking clearances to the front tires (appears as though the
springs are raising the front end MUCH too high).
