Has anyone ever seen an AC3281 Aerostrut wheel cover?  My parts one
show these as an option on 65-66 models, but I've never laid eyes on
any.  They'd be cool on my Cruiser.

I used to have 4 of them. They were in decent shape except 1 had bad rus
t and 1 had spotty rust . I traded them for hauling a cab to SB2002
except for one I sent to StudeBob for his collection.

They rust easily  and the center chrome part pits.  I also had trouble
keeping them on the car, nice style but alot of problems.

What do they look like? Anyone got any pics? We could have some, my
grandad has hubcaps strung out all over the place!

Do they have some sort of a side view of an Indian head in the center?

Nope, that would be a Pontiac wheelcover I  would think.
Matter of fact, I never gave the AC3281's a second thought, cause I
thought they came off a Buick or something. They were in the trunk of
one the many Studes I bought over the years and just lay on a shelf in
the garage till 2002.

I think the ones we have (a full set) are similar to what Dodge used in
the late 50's to early 60's.

I think the ones with the head in the center came off of Dodge Lancers
of the late 50s.  Still I'd like to find a set of these in decent
condition if anyone runs across any.

We have a full set. But I think they have a little rust. Steel wool
might make them like brand new, you never know. But I think grandad
wants to keep em.

Is this it? This is a scanned pic from one of those books from
Studebaker International. This hup cap is on a 62 GT Hawk.

YAY!!! We might be getting somewhere now. The ones we have must be off
a Dodge Lancer. The're not quite like these.

I saw a fairly nice set at York a year or two back for $500, but I
think they sold.

I've had a couple sets of them over the years, but I would never run them.
They are very heavy- would fly off too easily.  I sold my last set on eBay a
couple years ago.  I think they were first used on Oldsmobiles in the early
'50s.  I remember seeing them on a '54 Dodge too.  The spinner part bolts to
the base wheel cover and, as I remember, the center round piece is bolted to
the spinner bars.

Oh, and the Oldsmobile ones had only 3 spinners. Dodges had 4.

Night Prowler sell a four bar spinner that is very close to the
Studebaker hub cap.
